Morning Keynote Address: Strategies for Preventing Burnout and Improving Resilience
In addressing the critical issue of burnout among professionals, we must first comprehensively understand burnout, its causes, consequences, and strategies to prevent and manage it effectively. Burnout has become a prevalent concern in today's fast-paced and demanding work environments, affecting the well-being and productivity of employees. This interactive keynote provides approaches and practical strategies to prevent burnout and promote well-being within oneself and within one’s organization.
Kicking off an inspirational day of scholarship, camaraderie, and support, participants will leave with practical tools and insights to foster a resilient and sustainable organizational culture.
Jo Oliver-Yeager, University of New Hampshire
Graduate and Undergraduate Program Director, Human Services
Jo Oliver-Yeager is an accomplished author, who created a nonprofit children's book series that highlights and honors children with differences. She is the Program Director and Faculty in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Human Services at the University of New Hampshire, College of Professional Studies (CPS), Online. Jo started her career as a therapist working with children, teens, and adults with trauma. She currently sits on the board of NHWHE. Jo is also a member of the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS). She creates and teaches courses for The Child Welfare Education Partnership, which helps caregivers and foster families learn effective ways to support children. In her personal life, Jo lives with her husband, three dogs, and two cats in Vermont where she is a mother to three adult children, an avid hiker, and bird watcher.
Kathy DesRoches, University of New Hampshire
MS Leadership Program Director & Nonprofit Graduate Certificate Program
Kathy DesRoches, EdD is the program director and faculty member in the MS Leadership and Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership for the University of New Hampshire, College of Professional Studies (CPS), Online. Her primary responsibilities are curriculum, faculty oversight, and advocating for her students. She has worked at Granite State College, Manchester Community College, and UNH Durham. Kathy sits on the NHWHE board, the NEOER Board, and the NH Volunteers Conference committee. One of Kathy’s interests is in open educational resources and has collaborated with other faculty and students to create six books. Additionally, she is fascinated by AI and its impact on the classroom and the world. She holds a doctorate in education from Plymouth State University. Activities outside of work include serving as president and founding member of the nonprofit NHVegFest, and Chair of the Planning Board in her town. She lives with her husband, a dog, and a kitten in Epsom, New Hampshire.
